On June 9, 2020, NJPW announced it would make its return. They held a press conference where they gave out the details of how they planned on getting their superstars back in the squared ring.

NJPW Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi announced that June 15th would mark the day when this would happen. NJPW has not held a live event since February 26th, due to COVID-19. NJPW also took a different approach on how to handle the pandemic, by canceling all shows unlike American promotion (WWE and AEW).

NJPW decided to be cautious and allow their athletes to rest and prioritize social distancing until they felt it would be safe to resume.

The first event is named “Together Project Special,” and although there has not been a formal announcement of the card, this event will kick off the start of New Japan Cup the following day.

The Together Show and New Japan Cup will take place in empty arenas. Up until the July 11 and 12 shows where they announced fans will be allowed to be in the Osaka Jo Hall up to one-third of its capacity.

July 11 will be the end of the Japan Cup and the winner will challenge Naito for his championships. Lastly, July 11-12th will be the two-night event Dominion.
